First Generation  

1. Roch (George) Raflik,¹ son of Rafal Glapa and Marianna Geba, was born on 9 Aug 1798 in Konary, Wielkopolskie, Polska and died on 31 Jan 1869 in Zalesie, (Konary) Poland at age 70. Another name for Roch was Roch Raflik/aka/Glapa.

General Notes: Roch may have been the very first to use the surname Raflik, thus all Raflik's are his descendants. In one of the records, Roch was called "Rafalczyk" not Raflik. It seems his surname was not used before him, as both Raflik & Rafalczyk means "son of Raphael" and he was indeed the son of Raphael & Marianna.

Roch & Raphael were rare names during this period, and I found only one Raphael married to a Marianna, that being Raphael Glapka and Marianna Gebianka, on Oct. 10th 1782. In that time, surnames were just being formed in that part of the country. It's no wonder that a son of Raphael Glapka might have been called "Raflik" to be distincted from other Glapkas. Later on, he could use only his new surname as his own.

Documentation was found in the birth record of Roch's son Walenty. On the birth record, Walenty's surname is listed as Raflik/aka/Glapa.

Records from the Parish of Konary, Poland indicate that on Oct. 30th 1859, Lawrence Raflik, one of the sons of Roch and Hedvigis, married Marianna Naglik, the daughter of Joseph & Francisca.

Roch Raflik had 11 children one of which was Petronella. In the Portage county, register of deeds office, in Stevens Point WI., Petronella Raflik's parents are listed as George & Barbara Raflik. I now believe that George & Barbara may have been their (nicknames).

Roch married Jadwiga (Barbara) Malcherek, daughter of Mateusz Malcherek and Marianna Dolata, in 1822. Jadwiga was born in 1800 and died on 3 Apr 1848 in Zalesie, (Konary) Poland at age 48.

+ 2 M    i. Ludwig (Ludovicus) Raflik was born on 24 Aug 1822 in Oczkowice (Niepart) Poland and died on 6 Dec 1857 in Zalesie, (Konary) Poland at age 35.

+ 3 M    ii. Kasper (Gasparus) Raflik was born on 1 Jan 1825 in Zalesie, (Konary) Poland.

+ 4 F    iii. Petronella Raflik was born on 1 Jun 1826 in Nowy Targ, Poland/Novi Tark, Austria and died on 18 May 1911 in Town Of Belmont - Portage County, WI. at age 84.

+ 5 M    iv. Walenty (Valentinus) Raflik was born on 14 Feb 1829 in Zalesie, (Konary) Poland and died on 26 Apr 1835 in Piaski (Konary) Poland at age 6.

+ 6 M    v. Wojciech (Adalbertus) Raflik was born on 14 Apr 1832 in Zalesie, Poland.

+ 7 M    vi. Wawrzyn (Lawrence) Raflik was born on 4 Aug 1835 in Konary, Wielkopolskie, Polska and died in 1912 at age 77.

+ 8 M    vii. Piotr (Petrus) Raflik was born on 26 Apr 1838 in Konary, Wielkopolskie, Polska, was christened on 29 Apr 1838 in Konary, Wielkopolskie, Polska, and died on 2 Dec 1840 in Zalesie, Poland at age 2.

+ 9 M    viii. Kazimierz (Casimirus) Raflik was born on 26 Feb 1842 in Zalesie, (Konary) Poland and died on 2 Apr 1842 in Zalesie, (Konary) Poland.

+ 10 M    ix. Maciej (Matthias) Raflik was born on 23 Feb 1843 in Jutrosin, Poland and was christened on 23 Feb 1843 in Jutrosin, Poland.

Roch next married Petronella Kaczmarek, daughter of Augustyn Kaczmarek and Elizabeth, on 4 Jun 1848. Petronella was born on 17 May 1811 in Goreczki Wielkie (Parish: Golejewko) and died on 22 Nov 1876 in Zalesie, (Konary) Poland at age 65.

+ 11 F    i. Jadwiga Raflik was born on 1 Oct 1849 in Zalesie, (Konary) Poland.

+ 12 M    ii. Jan Raflik was born on 4 Dec 1854 in Zalesie, (Konary) Poland and died on 18 Aug 1856 in Zalesie, (Konary) Poland at age 1.
