I'm from Poland and I live in city called Zielona Góra.
The city with a history going back to the 13th century is situated in the very centre of Europe, between Berlin, Wrocław, Szczecin, Poznań and Prague. Its position has, for many years, favoured the shaping of a multitude of contacts with the people of other regions and countries. locationThe city has mild climate. The annual average air temperature in the city amounts to 8°C approximately
The highest point
– Wzgórze Jagodowe – is located at the altitude of 210,8 meters above
see level in the west – south part of the city (Wzgórze Piastowskie).
On the other hand, the lowest point (70,6 meters above see level) is
located in the northern part of the city (Niecka Chynowska).
The city’s name
perfectly mirrors its nature. Almost all housing estates are surrounded
by hilly forest areas. There are over 260 species of trees and bushes,
81 nature monuments, among which the 800-year-old yew (Kopernika
Street) is the most impressive one. The are five parks in Zielona Góra:
the biggest, Piastowski, has the area of 7,94 ha, while the smallest,
30-lecia, occupies the area of 1,46 ha. There are also three green
squares with the total area of 2 ha in Zielona Góra: by Niepodległości
Avenue, Partyzantów and Ogrodowej Streets. Pine (Pinus sylvestris) is
the most common tree species that grow in forests surrounding the city
of Zielona Góra, while birch, oak, spruce and beech are less common.
